Here’s why you should always put a coin in the freezer before you go out.

When you return home from a trip, have you ever noticed that your digital clock has been reset?

This often means there was no electricity, but it’s hard to know when or for how long, so you can’t be certain if your food is still good.

On Facebook, a woman named Sheila Pulanco Russell shared a useful tip to check if the food in your freezer is still good after a power cut.

I’ve heard a great tip for those of you leaving the beach. Sheila explains that it is called the “one cup tip.” “You put a cup of water in your freezer.” Put a 25-cent coin on top of it once it has frozen in the freezer and keep it there.

This simple tip will help you determine if your food is no longer good to eat.
